When Taran, Erik & I first met to discuss their Charleston WV wedding I have to admit that in a small part of the back of my head I may have questioned whether Taran knew what she was getting herself into. During our consultation she told me that her dream wedding was outdoors in a barn type setting with a custom made dress and lots of DIY details. Due to the scheduling of her ceremony most of the “popular” outdoor venues that met her desires were already booked so she booked a shelter at our local park. I grew up going to the park and I knew from personal experience the shelters tended to be a bit on the rough side mid-summer after they have been heavily used. Taran was determined to pull off her dream wedding. Fast forward a few month later and she blew me away with the transformation that had occurred at the shelter! Taran’s custom made dress (Made by the Dressmaker’s Closet), DIY details and amazing decorations turned a typical picnic shelter into an amazingly gorgeous wedding & reception venue! I am fully convinced if she ever decides to stop teaching there is a career in event planning for Taran!
A VERY special thank you to my wonderful friend Autumn Branscome for second shooting this wedding with me! If you’re in the Princeton, WV area and need a photographer be sure to look her up!
