If you’ve followed my work for long you have noticed that I haven’t built my business around being a newborn photographer. The honest truth is that before I became a mommy I was terrified of tiny babies and I still am a bit. My daughter weighed 9 lbs 4 ounces so I never had to handle a tiny infant. She was almost a toddler at birth, ha. The idea of posing a small little body while keeping him/her happy, the room the proper temperature, etc… has always given me hives. Not long ago I discovered that newborn photography doesn’t have to involve lots of crazy props, poses and never ending 3+ hour long sessions. Newborn photography can be simple. Mommy, daddy, baby and siblings together as their new family unit.
Then I met Lydia whose mommy & daddy invited me into their home to capture her a few days after she was born and I fell madly, deeply in love with the concept of lifestyle newborn photography. This little girl changed a whole lot of people’s lives including mine. Her session was not easy but if you have children you know that there are tricky days. It poured the rain on the day of Lydia’s session making inside their home very dark. Mommy & daddy had little sleep the night before juggling the newborn plus her big (but still toddler aged) brother. And their neighbors probably think I am a lunatic because I literally stood outside in the rain shooting into their home to “chase” the light I wanted. But we conquered! We overcome. I fell in love with being a lifestyle newborn photographer and this sweet family.
Lifestyle newborn sessions are now available with Kelly Broyles Photography. Sessions are all-inclusive and include Kelly Broyles as your lifestyle newborn photographer, digital images and a 5×5″ keepsake book featuring your session photographs.
